blind pilot - 3 rounds and a sound

fuckyesmusic:

i got this album a few months ago and never got a chance to indulge. i listened to a few tracks but was never really grasped by it. i figure a rainy sunday morning in hilo was the perfect time to give it a serious listen. my first impression is an aged beirut. the first song hits you with everything expected from an indie folk band; banjo, horns, and a gentle voice. it is definitely a fitting album for rain. or travel. i could drive through the berkshires listening to this. something that’s been featured in a few tracks so far is the layering of the same vocal part to create a chorus effect. i’ve always been fond of that recording strategy, it really gives the voice a bigger sound. overall, this album isnt too complex. standout tracks are “one red thread”, “oviedo”, and “go on, say it”. this is a good album to listen to if you’re stressed or if you’re busy with something. definitely background music, and damn good background music in my honest opinion. if you like bon iver, the decemberists, or the aforementioned beirut, then this album is a necessary download. check it out->here
